FROM THE DESK OF FR. LEN

Throughout the year, our scriptures and our Church challenge us to become better “disciples of Christ”.  And yet we ask, what constitutes discipleship?   The best description I was able to find was in a recent article in HOMILETIC & PASTORAL REVIEW.  Even though the article was entitled “Everyone’s Candidate for Favorite Priest”, the attributes mentioned are also applicable to a disciple.  Liturgical and devotional practices, devoted care for the most vulnerable members of society and activism for causes closest to the heart of the Church (e.g. efforts for peace; reverence of life – including anti-abortion initiatives, end-of-life issues and opposition to the death penalty; dignity of the immigrant, the homeless and the abused; care for the poor; and so on) are where we can see ourselves as disciples.  And now the big question, how are we doing as disciples?  Boiling hot, luke warm or freezing cold?   Take some time during this Easter week to examine your discipleship and make a difference in your life, your church, the community, the country and the world.

This week’s liturgical symbol is the Peacock.  Few things are more glorious than a peacock fully fledged.  The molting of peacocks and the renewal of their plumage are ancient signs of Resurrection.

call home than OLL

RCIA ... and beyond

The RCIA process this year provided our parish community an opportunity to receive ten, now fully initiated persons inclusive of adults, teenagers and children.

This age span necessitated three “teams” of catechists who shared their faith and encouraged the candidates and their Families in their journey to the Easter sacraments.

For your prayerful consideration ... Is God inviting you at this time in your life to be a part of the RCIA either as a candidate or a catechist ?

Please Pray For Our Service Men and Women Who Are Serving All Over The World.  God Bless Them And Bring Them Home Safely To Their Loving Families.
