FROM THE DESK OF FR. LEN

Last weekend was a joy as we celebrated the Resurrection of Our Lord.  The wonderful liturgies supported by the uplifting music of the choirs and musicians, the beautiful decorations which enriched our worship space, the multitude of stewards that assisted at the altar, the volunteers who came forward to decorate and set up all made last Sunday one of the best Easters I have ever experienced.  Now, it is time to continue this spirit.  We are aware that our ministers, both music and liturgical, will continue to serve; however, we invite all that came forward to join us on a regular basis in making each weekend a new Easter.  In the next few weeks, we will invite you to consider becoming a member of the Pastoral Council as well as to recommit as a steward for the 2007/2008 year.  Filled with Easter spirit, I invite you to see how the Risen Christ has inspired you to make OLL YOUR parish, YOUR family and YOUR home.

GOD’S PLAN FOR GIVING

Sacrificial Giving

Weekend of March 31/April 1                $16, 680.85

Identifiable Donors (628)                       $15, 235.30

Loose cash                                           $  1, 445.55

Our 5% tithe of $834.00 will be sent to the Holy Land for the preservation of shrines.  Last year’s collection for the weekend of April 1/2 amounted to $15,252.28 and the donors totaled 628.

TITHING FOR APRIL 22nd

The 5% tithe of next weekend’s collection will be added to the second collection and sent to support the pastoral work of the Catholic Church in Central and Eastern Europe.  Catholics in the United States help through the collection to build parishes in many distant, unknown places in Central and Eastern Europe.  The generous donations support seminaries, social service programs, youth ministry, pastoral centers, church construction and renovation, and the spreading of the Gospel message through the mass media.

LITURGICAL SYMBOLISM

This week’s liturgical symbol is the daffodil.  Is there a merrier flower than a daffodil?  It seems to trumpet the Easter words of Christina Rosetti: “Spring bursts today, for all the world’s at play.”

STEWARDSHIP RECOGNITION CORNER

Special recognition and gratitude is given this week to everyone who helped decorate our Church so beautifully for Easter, the Liturgical ministers who served during Holy Week, those who prepared and served the Easter Vigil breakfast, and especially our Choirs under the direction of Jim Cole!
